Most teenagers don’t do laundry (even fewer mow the lawn), and there are plenty of college kids who bring a duffel bag home full of “unmowed” laundry for mom to do. I would guess that this expression was created by sucker moms who don’t want to burden their spoiled brat children with demeaning manual labor.

My wife does laundry on a big scale; I do it in smaller, more frequent batches. My teenage daughter and my son when he was a teenager do laundry my way. They’re smart like their dad.

I don't know, Ron. In the "good old days," when I used to go to laundromats, I remember seeing frequent fights over the biggest washers, and even more fights over the limited number of dryers. The meek may inherit the Earth, but they do not inherit the laundromat.

Six loads may take no longer than one load, but six separate regular size machines take a lot more quarters than one super size front loader laundry machine. They're so big I sometimes wash my car in them!
