I heard this word on another podcast and thought it might just be the greatest onomatopoeia ever.

bor·bo·ryg·mus  (bôrb-rgms)
A rumbling noise produced by the movement of gas through the intestines.

dayofthedave, welcome to the Forum.

It’s a convincing enough case for onomatopoeia, though not quite as obvious as, say, burping, though granted it’s a lot harder to do the stomach rumbling, which by the way makes it 2nd degree onomatopoeia for rumbling is itself a one.
