On this morning's episode, Grant informed us that the word "dub" was once derogatory slang for one who is not so smart. In radio production (at least, way back in the day of the tape recorder) to "dub" a tape means to make a copy. The finished copy is also a "dub."

The word "dupe" is a derogatory term for someone who is not so smart in a special way: a ditto-head; someone who parrots the party line. A mindless copy of the original. In radio production, someone might also "dupe" an original tape in order to edit it without destroying the original. The product of that process is also a "dupe".

Which leads me to wonder ...
Is there any sense of going mindlessly along with the gang in the bygone slang "dub"?
