Since when is "vigorish" slang? I always considered it the ordinary, proper, canonical word for it, while the abbreviated form "vig" was slang. Of course, I may be biased since I work in a casino.

Some dictionaries do mark it as "informal" which is as close as modern dictionaries will usually get to calling anything "slang." Even given that, I knew I was riding the line when I chose it for the puzzle. But I went ahead with it because I thought it was unusual enough for most people that, whether one thought it was slang or not, it was still an interesting choice.
