  • My Wisconsin family (no one from St Louis-although my husband, son, and I live here now) has always sung, “without a shirt” just this way at the end of Happy Birthday. May have been originally sung by my Mom’s family from Chicago! SO glad we are not the only crazy ones. I am in my 50s and still get phone call from my mom and dad rling ith a rather out of tune rendition of the song and post script. I live for that on my Birthday and am happy to return the favor!

  • I was raised in Prairie Village , KS in a household of 6 girls and 2 boys. Our dad who was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa always sang “ without a shirt” birthday song to us over many years. He never told us where he got it from . It always felt embarrassing when he sang it .
