Well, the word of the year doesn't mean "happy rainbow puppies fun-times word of the year." It's just the one that the group believed to be most significant.

I still like "Facebook" as a transitive verb, and was glad to see it was at least in the running. Mariana, do you have a favorite you'd like to suggest?

Well, It doesn't have to be "happy" word ,you know, but it could have been more...I don't know...meaningful? In fact, I like " intransigence" and I also think it is relevant!...It doesn't sound likely to be applied to your rainbow or even the puppies(unless they would be very, very stubborn to begin with), would it?
